SUNDERLAND
– The high performance Port
The Port of Sunderland
is a short-sea specialist. Quick despatch of vessels has earned the respect
of many operators. Indeed it is our Hallmark.
Our minimum standard
is excellence and our commitment to our customers is to exceed their expectations.
We benefit from:-
- A Riverside Quay
less than a kilometre from the Harbour Entrance, 323 metres in length,
providing 8.8 metres depth of water alongside at LAT.
- 2 x 35 tonne high
capacity Portal Cranes.
- Back up heavy
duty equipment and facilities.
- A highly experienced
and expert ‘in house’ workforce.
- Competitive charges.
- Services and working
hours tailored to individual customers specifications.
- Synchronous logistics
management.
- Rail access supported
by our own Locomotives.
- Road links to
A1 and A19.
The Port's growing
portfolio of customers both in the northern region of the UK and elsewhere
is recognition of our ability to compete with our bigger neighbours. By
producing service packages that are delivered consistently to ISO 9001:2000
standards, the Port of Sunderland has achieved preferred supplier status
with a surprising number of household names.
The Port is owned
by Sunderland City Council, one of only 22 Local Authorities in the country
accorded Excellent status under CPA.
We have a developed
expertise in working with partners to deliver business opportunities.
We have embarked upon the initial stages of a 15 to 20 year programme
to promote a massive regeneration initiative to bring non operational
land into use. This promises to be another challenging period in our 300
years history.
Our intention is to
convert Sunderland’s Port into a diverse community that will provide
new opportunities for employment and respond to the challenge for environmentally
focused business development.
